But did you ever wonder why India Republic Day is celebrated on 26 January since 1950, and India got Freedom on 15th August 1947 and Why did it take 2 Years, 11 Months and 18 Days to design our Indian Constitution and declare India as a Republic Country? Come on let's solve this Mystery on this special occasion of 70th India Republic Day 2020.
History of India Republic Day: First of all I wish you all a very Happy Republic Day and The story starts from the year 1927 when Bhagat Singh with few more young Leaders came forward with an initiative of "Complete Freedom" in India and This Idea inspired and Motivated many other Indian National Congress Leaders. In 1928 after the rejection of a proposal made by the India National Congress to British for Dominion Status or to make India a self-governing Nation.
During the Lahore session in 1929, the Indian National Congress elected Jawahar Lal Nehru as the President and Proposed for Purna Swaraj(complete Independence in India). In order to celebrate this event(Purna Swaraj), in 1930 the last Sunday of January was fixed which fell on 26 January. Hence this day is celebrated by Hoisting the Indian Flag in Lahore at the banks of River Ravi by President Jawahar Lal Nehru.
After many struggles, In 1947 on August 15, Our India gained complete Freedom from British. In 1949 after many discussions, our Indian Constitution was formed by 26 November and a decision was made to bring the Indian Constitution into Force on 26th January 1950, remembering the previous celebrations of Purna Swaraj on 26 January 1930 and celebrate 26 January every year as the Purna Swaraj or India Republic Day.
"According to Our Indian Constitution, all the citizens of India have the right to elect their own Governing body by themselves".
That is why we all Indians celebrate India Republic Day on 26th January every year since 1950 and In 2020 India is going to celebrate its 71st Republic Day Celebrations grandly.
